Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbs consist of almost anything natural found on the earth – from roots to animal parts, to minerals. However, most herbs are of plant origin. An Herbal Formula is designed to address the origin of a problem. An Herbalist may fashion a custom formula consisting of between one and upwards of twenty herbs for each patient. Herbs have Chinese medicinal properties when used individually and when combined with other herbs, assume different properties. Each Formula is modified for the specific needs of the patient during each stage of illness. As a condition changes and improves, the Herbal Prescription is modified until the desired health outcome is achieved.

At New Freedom Acupuncture, prepared patent formulas and tinctured formulas are prescribed, and raw herbal prescriptions are available. In cases of pain or physical trauma, a topical may also be incorporated.
